Microsoft provides grants and discounts for eligible nonprofit organizations, including cloud services like Microsoft 365, Azure and Dynamics 365, Surface hardware, on-premises software, and digital skilling. Please note that not every program may be available in every country.

First, review our eligibility guidelines and then get started by applying for a product grant or discount.

Microsoft encourages you to work with a partner in your country whose mission is to serve other nonprofits in building organization and technology capacity, such as nonprofit partners TechSoup and Tech Impact.

Nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations must:

  • Hold recognized legal charitable status as defined in their countries
  • Operate on a not-for-profit basis
  • Have a mission to benefit the broader community
  • Attest to Microsoft's anti-discrimination policy
  • Only assign licenses to eligible staff
  • Only use the licenses for their organization and not license partner, affiliate, or sister organizations.

We strive to make eligibility determinations as quickly as possible, and the process can take up to 10 business days. This timeframe can vary depending on nonprofit responsiveness to requests for additional documentation and country requirements.

Nonprofit grants are permitted only for paid nonprofit employees, and unpaid executive staff who act as leadership for the nonprofit. Nonprofit discounts are permitted for all nonprofit staff and volunteers. Nonprofit program participants, members and donors are NOT eligible for nonprofit licenses and subscriptions.   1. To qualify for nonprofit grants and discounts, organizations must be a nonprofit or non-governmental organization with recognized legal status in their respective country (equal to 501(c)(3) under the United States Internal Revenue Code).
  2. Compatible with Windows 10 or later. For complete requirements for PC and Mac see system requirements.
  3. For HD calling, compatible HD hardware and broadband connection with at least 4 Mbps required.
  4. This plan works with Office 2021, Office 2019, Office 2016, Office 2013, and Office 2011 for Mac. Previous versions of Office, such as Office 2010 and Office 2007 may work with Microsoft 365 with reduced functionality. This compatibility with Office does not include the Office 365 F3 plans.
  5. Exchange and SharePoint are domain versions only.
  6. Unlimited OneDrive storage for E3 or E5 subscriptions of five or more users. Microsoft will provide an initial 5 TB of OneDrive storage per user. Customers who want additional OneDrive storage can request it as needed by contacting Microsoft support. Subscriptions for fewer than five users receive 1 TB OneDrive storage per user.
  7. Includes unlimited toll dial-in, 60 minutes/user/month dial-out to Zone A countries, and Operator Connect Conferencing. Applies only to Microsoft 365 E5.
  8. Availability of Audio Conferencing varies by region. See current International Availability.
  9. Availability of mobile apps varies by country/region.
